Aussie Bodied Tourer at Te Aroha

Te Aroha club member David Stewart has purchased a 1935 Ruskin bodied Tourer  serial number 344 and wants to know if anybody else in New Zealand owns one.

Dave had the chance to view it last Christmas. It had been sandblasted and stored in a shed for some 20 years, shod in Motorway retreads with stickers still on.  Since then he has been hard at work - fitted a fully reconditioned Series E motor and gearbox. The windscreen has been rechromed and new glass fitted. Two new running boards made up and rubber glued on.

Hood bows are the same as the sports, fitted to the top of the body not the side but with two bows only. The body is much larger than the English assembled tourer, standing out over 200mm past the rear of the back guards.

Photo shows David sitting in his tourer with  Ruskin body badge still attached and a sheet pulled over the bows to demonstrate the hood.

Contact the Editor Peter McAuley if you know anything please.
