Oamaru All British Day

Sunday 9th April 2000. A static display in the Historic Precinct was how it was advertised. The event, a nostalgic trip back in time with a great cross section of British cars. No mention of the extra's, a raised stage and a troupe of actors. They held a large crowds attention as they took us back
to the Edwardian era. With piano accompliment it was non stop entertainment as the compare introduced people dressed for the occasion.
Ladies demonstrating hooped dresses with the hoops on the outside. A display of old bicycles including the penny farthing. Children on stilts, a wedding and a display of colourful British military uniforms There was a round tent and a large gentleman in uniform  selling Union Jacks, food
stalls and a corner Pub. Some of the old buildings were open to displaying crafts. The local Brass Band entertained till prize giving at 2-30 Ford were the feature car this year with a fine display by the S.C. Zepher and Zodiac Enthusiasts Club.There was a 1937 Lancaster built by Daimler, a
long wheel base Bentley saloon and a  display of cars Britain was famous for, the sports cars. The impressive E Type Jaguar, Triumph TR2's, MG's, and a lone Series 1 Morris 8 Sports representing Morris.
