THE ENGINE IS READY FOR THE CAR Meanwhile the engines have been nearly completed, and this picture
shows them moving along on trolleys while the engineers put the finishing
touches to them. On the floor below the chassis is waiting.
The engine, as well as the front and back axles, is now lowered from
a platform above by means of a crane and bolted securely into position
on the chassis frame.

THE CHASSIS AND THE WHEELS MEET The chassis is built up as it passes along a conveyer. Then it
goes into one end of the spray-painting booths seen in the background,
where all exposed parts are coated with enamel. After that the electrical
equipment is added.
The chassis assembly lines end at this transporter, which conveys wheels
across the end of the shop and automatically deposits them close to the
particular chassis for which they are intended.
