The
Morris Eight Tourer Club
Is a long garage that had wooden doors and would only house one vehicle.
When we bought the Suzuki Vitara I found after measurment that, by reversing
the Morris 8 in so that the bumper was about 50 mm from the rear wall and
by replacing the old wooden doors with an automatic tilter door I could
fit the Suzuki in with about 500mm to spare.
The problem, it was not possible to see down to the bumpers so I suspended
a mirror from the ceiling to get the correct parking distance
Suspended tile
mirror above Morris 8. Held by sticky back hooks fixed to the back of the
mirror.
Automatic door unit with enclosed light at left of mirror. There are
2 door sender units, one for the Morris 8, one for the Vitara, an opening/closing
push button by the door and an opening/closing push button upstairs. Unfortunately
there was nothing to indicate whether the door is open or closed and the
door is not visiable from upstairs. There was a 12 volt terminal on the
back of the door unit so I fitted a limit switch at the end of the door
track, ran wires to the upstairs push button and fitted a small l.e.d.
green light, so when the door is up the light is on.
